The taste is caramel, malts, sweet. iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 31, 2009 12oz bottle, notched August--hopefully the bottled on month. . . Aroma of sweaty Cascades with some earth and light spice behind. There are also some biscuit and light caramel notes. Clear medium orange with a one finger off-white head, good retention. Flavor mirrors the aroma. Semi-dry with bitterness at a 4. Light prickly carbonation with a medium body. So-so. roborb (59), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Aug 30, 2009 12 oz bottle poured into my trusty dogfish snifter. This produced a dark copper colored beer with a small, quickly dissipating 2 finger head. There was good lacing throughout the sampling. Aroma consisted of light citrus hops and a very strong malt. The taste was dominated by malts up front and then a very slight hop bitterness. This was an above average beer and great for sessions. fidelis83 (707), Clinton, Iowa, USA Aug 24, 2009 Pours dark, very slightly hazed copper with a tall, yellowish off white head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is grass, citrus, some pine, herbal, caramel, biscuit and melon. Flavor is grainy, sweet malts, citrus, a little pine, biscuit, honeydew, a little grainy funk, wet limestone and a little breadiness. Palate is light to medium body, creamy, slightly chalky and neutral right up till the end where it dries out a bit, it has just the right amount of a really pillowy but slightly sharp carbonation. I really don’t think this stuff fits the IPA style very well as it really lacks the overall strength of an IPA. That being said, I really don’t care if it fits the category, this is a damn fine (India?) pale ale. Easily the best brew that I have had from my home state of Iowa... Now to convince my local store to carry it. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Aug 22, 2009 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Amber in color with a small off-white head. Aroma is of light hops and wet dog. Taste is of hops, grass, and caramel. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 18, 2009 Have had from bottle and draft, both into a pint glass. One of their more solid and delicious brews. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 17, 2009 (12oz bottle) Pours a clear amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of toasted grain, grass, nuts, florals, and citrus. Flavor of citrus, grass, caramel, and toasted nuts with a bitter finish.
