A good citrus backdrop with some heavy caramel presence. A rather thin body but a decent session beer. Braudog (3770), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 31, 2005 On tap at the brewery: Poured an orange-red with a thin head. Caramel malt overall with a smooth finish. Almost an Oktoberfesty beer. Good. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 19, 2005 12oz bottle. Poured witha nice head, a deep copper color of a beer...muted aroma, but what’s there suggests a room full of malt, or the Millstream attic. Drinks with more malt, and the hops show up in the finish to give it a dash of spice and balance. An enjoyable, big beer. swirl (267), collingswood, New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2004 Acquired via trade. This beer pours a bright amber/orange color with a thin light beige head that dissipated over the course of a couple minutes. Thin lacing. The aroma is vaguely malty with some bread as well. Medium-bodied and a very clean and crisp mouthfeel. Light malt, caramel and hops flavors. Not abundantly flavorful overall but it is very drinkable. The finish is lightly sweet malt with a touch of spice and hops. All in all a pleasing beer to drink despite (because of?) the simple approach. fuyajo (225), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 16, 2004 Small head, light-carmel color. Grain-like taste with a smooth, clean flavor. A very slight tinge of alcohol flavor. Very pleasent beer. Good beer, probably won’t buy again, but I’d order it at a bar if it were on tap. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 3, 2004 Pretty good. Reddish copper. Nose is malty, bit nutty, some grassiness. Caramel malts are there, just a bit of crispness and decent hops at the end. Gmku (254), Asheville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | May 17, 2004 Updated: May 20, 2004Very enjoyable, refreshing maibock. Slightly less sweet or full tasting than Capital’s take on the style. Appearance might suggest otherwise, with an almost syrupy pour, a gorgeously deep color of copper, and a head of creamy foam head that slowly subsides into a soft layer of suds. Aroma is plentiful though not overly striking--fresh and slightly grass-like. Malts are nice, very German, with some caramel notes, and I notice the cherry another reviewer mentions. Hops come up just enough to balance the sweetness. If it’s not my favorite maibock, it’s still very good.
