Both hop aroma and bitterness from the noble hops present. Malty with a touch of sweetness in the mouth. Finish is balanced. A fine example of a maibock. jde123 (715), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 5, 2004 Don’t think this should be considered a bock, but whatever. Pours a transparent amber, very bubbly with a very large loosely packed head that doesn’t add much to the overall score. Lots of malts, very creamy mouthfeel but has a strange sweet aftertaste that isn’t too bad. Overall a good beer that I would have again. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA

Man, this is smooth and scary drinkable. Tried again with a fresh 2005 bottling. The aroma is slightly stronger with roasted peanuts and fresh cut wood. The taste is about the same. Nice and fresh 2004 bottling. Pours a very clear, dark ruby with little head. The aroma is caramel with some cherries. The taste is light caramel, oak and a little bite like burnt toast. The bite is not too much and adds to the overall enjoyment of this refreshing spring beer. heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 30, 2004 Served from cornelius keg filled at the brewery today. Brilliant golden. Full noble hop aroma. Firm hop bitterness. Quite malty, nice honey notes. Sweetish in the finish, but balanced nicely by the firm hop charge. This is an excellent spring bock. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 29, 2004 #4 on the Jpdipso Bock Run.Amber color, small white head that faded quickly.Lightly malty aroma with a hint of fruit and mild alcohol coming through, maybe even a faint caramel as well.Fairly highly carbonated for the style, malty taste with maybe a hint of orange possibly manadarin and a mild hop presence with the brew being kind of bitter sweet but still it has a nice body to it not being to thin or heavy.I really like this brew,in fact i think i could drain these quite often if i had access to them.More then worth getting if your loooking for a nice highly drinkable brew. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 23, 2004 Updated: May 12, 2004Deep amber color with scads of proteins in suspension. Larger cream colored head. Very light and clean malt aroma. Hints of light alcohol also tickle the nose. Light sweet malt flavors. For the heavier feel, this really does seem to lack in the malt flavers. Late effervesence. Somehow reminds me of a lot of eastern europe malt liquors - a little malt, a little flavor and more alcohol than needed. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2003 Light copper color. Large head. Aroma is caramel and a touch grassy. A light bodied bock/lager. Malts are sweet with a touch of orange. Hops are slightly spicy. Not a typical bock as it’s a little light bodied. Light and refreshing. Nothing special, but very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. argo0 (6964), Washington DC, USA
