iamqueensblvd (178), , Iowa, USA Nov 7, 2009 very clean citrus smell. god this is a delicious smelling beer. amber pour with a light tan head. slight caramel and pumpkin flavor. delicious on the palate. surprisingly delicious octoberfest. one of my favs. noncaloric (601), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Oct 31, 2009 Pours a clear amber, modest off-white head. Clean figgy malt aroma. Flavor has a nice fruity malt complexity, figs, apple cider. The caramel malt cider sweetness is coutnered by a bit of floral hop bitterness, really more a balancing agent than a flavor in their own right. Nice spectrum of flavor. The apple and hoppy elements clashed a bit to my taste. Medium body, crisp palate. nuplastikk (1159), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Oct 10, 2009 12oz shorty bottle. Filtered orange-amber color with a fluffy off white-head. Classic Oktoberfest aroma, deep malts and noble hops. Bitter upfront, but quickly fades into a sweet creamy finish. Quite an excellent example of the style, certainly a tad underrated thus far. Medium bodied, lots of thick malt tones. Almost an orange-vanilla yeasty creaminess. Clean, fresh, and full of flavor. Solid. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Sep 30, 2009 12oz bottle brought back with me from Iowa City. Purchased at John’s Grocery. Pours a crystal clear, orange-amber body with a finger-width, foamy, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is a paler malt sweetness, a faint toast, and a light citrusy hop. Pretty weak and pale though. Flavor is better, but nothing to write home about. Pale caramel maltiness with a touch of honey sweetness. A light toast and roasty nut flavor along with a light fruit. Finishes with an earthy bitterness that is higher than most Oktoberfests. Dry with a short aftertaste. Light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Overall, a decent Oktoberfest from a brewery I admire, but nothing special. A little hoppier than most, but I’m looking for more. BrianHagmeier (257), Coralville, Iowa, USA Sep 14, 2009 I am quite impressed with this years beer. This version of Oktoberfest is very nice. I like the extra hop and the full body. I drank the first pint before I got sit down. I had to get another one so I could rate it. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 13, 2009 A bit hoppier than other versions (that’s America, baby!) that is emphasized by an obvious bitterness from the malts, topped off with hints of chocolates. Not bad! Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Jan 18, 2009 Bottle courtesy of CanIhave4beers. Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells of caramel and light citrus. Tastes of caramel and earthy with a hint of bitterness and some touches of honey sweetness on the finish. daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Dec 25, 2008 Bottle from pepsican. Thanks! Amber color, minimal head. Aroma has malt, caramel, light hops and some bready notes. Flavor is a bit sweet, smooth with bready malts, slight hops and would be a lot better if it werent for the crazy carbonation. Still a pretty decent brew.
