Commercial Description:
We make this beer several months before the harvest so it can age properly. Millstream Oktoberfest is similar to the our Munich style Schild Brau, but is stronger, maltier, and darker in color. A truly special beer, to celebrate the harvest, an important part of life here in Amana.

Really smooth and easy to drink. A nice copper color with a small and quickly fading head. Aroma was all malts mainly caramel but some earth notes. Flavor was crisp subtle sweet with a smooth hop finish. Kind light though.

clear amber, wispy off white head, munich malt aroma with a hint of sweetness balanced by earthyness, rich malt flavor, only a hint of sweetness from the malt is quickly balanced by a big earthy presence,

Pours a transparent copper orange with a small, frothy off-white head. Aroma of sweet toasty German malts with a touch of earthy noble hops. Body starts fairly full and sweet with some doughy toffee and mild chocolate notes. A pretty good oktoberfestbier.

My last unrated Millstream. Had this at the Iowa City Brewfest ’06. Poured a clear copper orange with a one finger fading yellow beige head. Aroma of nuts, toffee, and a bit chocolatey. Taste had some herbally hemp, chocolatey malts, and the toffee is more restrained. Medium body, light to moderate carbonation.

Whisky-colored with a tan head, this brew had a milky, lagered aroma with a malty backbone. Base flavor is bittersweet and "Märzenish", but there’s not alot to it and its hops turn tinny in the finish. Simply O.K.

A little bitter in the finish but overall a decent Oktoberfest beer. A little heavy on the carbonation, but not terrible. Kind of a slight nutty, yeasty flavor.

#942, bottle purchased from Johns in Iowa City, Clear brown thin head, nose is faint with some lagernish, overly carbonated with some soft malts. Bland and drinkable.

Nice orange color, little head. Overcarbonated. Some nutty hints in the nose. A somewhat stale malt character mostly dominates. Faint bitterness in the finish. Decently balanced and drinkable but bland.
