Commercial Description:
We make this beer several months before the harvest so it can age properly. Millstream Oktoberfest is similar to the our Munich style Schild Brau, but is stronger, maltier, and darker in color. A truly special beer, to celebrate the harvest, an important part of life here in Amana.

A decent Oktoberfest, pouring an orange/copper body with a diminutive white head. The aroma is toasty and filled with a malty sweetness. There’s a slight surge of caramel in the middle, but the flavor retains that toasted malt taste that I enjoy in the style. The hops are nearly undetectable and there’s a slight twist of lemon in the finish. The carbonation is a good palate cleanser. Nice.

Bottle. Malty sweet aroma. No visible carbonation. Copper body. Small, off-white ring. Full bodied marzen. Pretty good balance with some sweetness. A little over carbonated, but this brew followed a several day old growler of Little Apple Prairie Pale Ale which was somewhat flat. Not bad at all. Even has a hint of hops.

One of my favorite beers from Millstream. Nice color and head, and a great smooth taste. This is one of those beers that goes down a little too easily, you’ll be through your third before you even realize it.

From a 12 oz. twist cap stubby brown bottle with a notched bottle date, September, along the right side of label, fall ’06 release. Poured a cloudy reddish/orangey brown with a foamy topped, creamy light tan head that settled into a thin lacing. Aromas of toasted grains, sweet caramel, a brief whiff of alcohol and a subtle floral hop. Good, even carbonation for an Oktoberfest and a malty crisp, dryish, creamy smooth medium bodied mouthfeel. Delicious Oktoberfest taste, toasted grain, sweet caramelized malts, a light sweet breadiness as well, the hops have a spicy, honey-like quality that cut underneath the malts and adds to the flavor, a very brief flash of alcohol towards the end and a dry grainy and malty finish. The best American Oktoberfest I’ve had this fall, fresh tasting and an easy, quaffable drinkability, I purchased two sixes of this and I am going to have to go back for more. I have to agree with the other reviews, get this was it’s fresh. Another example that Millstream knows what they are doing when it comes to German style lagers.

Bottle: Amber in color, small off-white fizzy head that settles quickly, sparce lacing, very light carbonation.   Malty nose, perhaps a touch of charred wood.   Its actually more like burnt leaves.   Fairly strong roasted maltiness on the tongue, semi-sweet, somewhat nutty.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Fairly clean finish, a hint of citrus appears at the very end, but its quick.   Enjoyable, and certainly better than the imported German variety.   Thanks Eric!

12 oz bottle via trade with heemer77 - Thanks Eric! - Poured copper and fairly clear with a fair offwhite head that faded quick. Aromas of caramel and a hint of toffee. Flavor is bold caramel a touch of chocolate and a sweet toffee aftertaste that I liked. Palate is lighter for a marzen. A little on the watery side, but very drinkable. My first taste of Millstream and I’m looking forward to trying the other bottles that I got in the package today!

I’ve had this a number of times. Copper color with a nice lacy head. Spicy nose and flavor with a hint of bitterness. Crisp finish. Pretty standard, but good.
