Commercial Description:
Pilsner is simple, and yet complex. Its not easy to make a beer pure enough to really let the hops stand out, but that is the goal of our pilsner. We use Czech Saaz hops that are a delight to the senses and impart an arousing aroma and satisfying flavor. The end result is a full bodied beer that has a pleasing hoppy aftertaste.

On tap at the brewery: Dark yellow and very active with a beauty of a white head. This is biscuity, yet mellow and fruity with a nice effervesence on the tongue. Yummy pils.

On tap at an Amana restaurant. Has a big, bulky and thick white head on top of a lively, bubbling yellow body. First taste is sharp but thick, with frothy yeast and pillowy, dense foam overtaking the senses. Full, extremely fresh and lively, with some perfumy hay and lemon notes throughout. Grainy, almost vinegar sharpness at times up the nose, it’s a very well-made fresh and delicious pils that I imagine loses some life in bottles. A really, really good pils.

Thanks to Secret Santa Eve for this one! Pale gold, the very slightest haze, small head fades. Pleasant aroma of gentle hay and grass over light malt. Flavor is also grassy, a touch of floral, and a grainy finish. Nicely done, competent pils. Really, rather well done.

I have recently been buying the crap out of this one. Solid with nice hints of carrots and a little bit of bitter hops. The color is the standard light yellow with a medium head. Aroma is bready with some grass. The taste is light and refreshing. Just a hint of hops with a strong bready background. Much better than the standard pilsners, but not world class.

Pretty deep burnished gold with a hazy homemade look to it, lots of sparkle, fresh grassy aroma and smooth light taste of sweet malt with a gentle hoppy bitterness, all very gentle and pleasant to drink.

First let me start off by saying that this is more of a Kolsch than a pilsner. I think that I would like to rate this as a Kolsch. Brilliantly clear, soft quickly fading head. Decent carbonation. Mild hop aroma and bite. This is a great example of a German Kolsch. As for a pilsner, drier and more hops. Check out Schwelmer and you will find a good export German Pilsner.

Thanks to heemer77 for this one! Picture perfect Pilsner here. Tall column of brilliantly clear medium yellow under a frothy white head. Clean light malt aroma. The flavor is well balanced, lightly sweet yet restrained with just enough hops. Finishes clean and refreshing as a good Pilsner should with no bad aftertastes.

On tap at Bill Zuber’s place in Homestead, IA. Clear golden color with a rich white head. Great lager straw-like aroma. Delightful carbonation. Good lacing. A clean and wondefully drinkable pilsner. Very well made. Rich and memorable. Great palate. You can drink a bathtub of this, particularly while listening to the tuba and banjo duets of Electric Mule.
