Commercial Description:
The name Schild Brau means essentially 'Shield beer' in German. This is our Flagship brew, a Microbrew done in the style of the special beers of Munich. This beer is brewed in the style of a Vienna style lager. This style was first developed by Anton Dreher in Vienna in 1841. He used a new type of sweet caramelized malt that gave the beer a wonderful reddish, coppery color and a juicy malt character. Word soon spread to Germany where this style of beer became immensely popular, and stronger versions called Marzen or Oktoberfest were soon made. Our beer uses these same malts to attain a perfect balance between malty sweetness and a firm bitterness. Our Hallertau hops are imported from Germany give it subtle spicy flavor. The repeated awards that we have received for this beer only confirm why many people consider this beer to be synonymous with Millstream Brewing at its best.

Well, rater #65. Poured a hazy, chunky amber, Tan head. Sweet aroma of caramel. There is something different about this brew, there is a sour-thick mouthfeel. No a real have again. Thanks to heemer for trading.

12 oz bottle via trade with heemer77 - Thanks Eric - Pours copper with a short tan head that fades fast and settles to a ring around the glass and laces from there. Aroma is roasty caramel malts. som brief german hops as well. Flavor is caramel malts, roasted flavor, grass, some almond notes. Palate is medium bodied and not very carbonated. Fairly smooth. I found this very drinkable and a nice example of a fest beer. Not bad...

This beer sampled at Brew Ha Ha 2005: The guy poured it for me in a hurry and it left a good head for this type of beer. It smelled really good almost fruity but, it all ended there. The taste was not good at all

clear bright copper color with a very light tan creamy & pillowy head. sweet caramel malt and almond milk (yes, the kind blue diamond makes) aroma. flavor is sweet malt, tangy, grassy, and raw almonds. light mouthfeel, mild carbonation. faint dryish finish. Thanks Secret Santa!!

This one was from a batch mfg. in 6/05, so it is fairly fresh. Poured with a soapy head that lasted for a while, and had a dark orange opaque body. It was sweet with light caramel malt, and just enough hops presence to balance. Really heavier on the sweet malt. The body was what was expected of a lager. Overall a good session brew.

Amber body with a loose, sudsy grayish-white head. Aroma of fruity malt with some apple notes. Medium sweet caramel and fruit flavor with clean Noble hop notes. Body is a little thin with a short finish. Could make a fair session beer.
