Brewfiend brought a 12 oz bottle to help me remember the North Star Chapter’s Guzzle ’n Twirl shows in St Paul some 17 years ago. Schantz and his family were regular guests and brought plenty of Millstream lager and Schild Brau to the shows. Pours a hazy amber brew with a thick off white head that dissappears quickly. Lacing is nice. Aroma has sweet barley malt, citrus peel, some nuttiness, and pitted fruit. Taste is smooth, a little carbonated, and a little buttery. Finish is smooth and sweet. Though the brewery has changed brewmasters, it’s nice to notice the Schild Brau has not changed in flavor over the years. doubelknv3 (568), Illinois, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 3, 2007 I love the aroma to this one. Sweet malts jump out of the glass. Like the aroma, the flavor is malt with some toffee. A brandy essence is present. Overall flavor is a little thin. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours clear deep ruby color with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, red wine grapes, toffee. Tastes caramel malty, with some cabernet notes, honey, toffee, and slight hops. Fairly rich palate, with a lot of fruity notes. iowaherkeye (1872), Los Angeles, California, USA

Pours a clear orange with a few reddish highlights and a quickly fading minimal beige head. Aroma of toasted malts, walnuts, caramel malts, and a bit of earthy hops. Fairly sweet smelling. Flavor adds a bit of grassiness and very little bitterness--again fairly sweet. Light to medium body with low carbonation. I could session at least a few of these without getting bored. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 21, 2007 Copper, clear body. Fizzy light tan head. Fruity malt aroma. Flavor is a very "clean" malt taste of caramel and fruits. Light floral hops add a good crispness. Really good amber. Very drinkable. Cliff (366), Avon Lake, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Bottle, thanks to iowaherkeye. Poured a clear amber color with a thick white head. Nice malty aroma, crisp malty flavor with a little bit of back end bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and a clean finish. Nice amber, but nothing to write home about. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 21, 2007 Pours a lightly hazy orange amber with a small off white head that left hints of lacing. Aroma of caramel, grains, toasty and bready. Flavor is toasty, sweet malts, grains, cereal, some caramel, touch of hop bitterness (very light), biscuity and some citrus. I always find this style of beer hard to put into words (looking through some of the other ratings this seems to be fairly common). Bottom line is that this is an easy drinking, well made Marzen!
