Mar 3, 2008 interesting pour: dark purple, no head. the aroma so so subtle that i only caught air. the sour-sweet flavor was not enjoyable. the sour finish sticks with you. and the sweetness in the flavor is mush too overpowering for me.

Feb 28, 2008 Nice full frothy head that falls at a normal pace. Deep deep red beer, very nice. Light burnt malt aroma with a strong chocolate smell. A little on the sweet but the flavor comes out nice on the after taste.

Pours a transluscent dark brownish maroon color with a medium fizzy tan head. Smell is dusty cocoa, with chocolate malt. Taste is similar with a slightly thin body and dusty cocoa/choclate flavor. Pretty drinkable with medium carbonation and not bad at all. Friendly, easy drinking, but simple beer.

Thin dark brown in color with a short-lived head. Subtle light malt smell - very light. Flavor is a bit bland and not very exciting. Highly carbonated and just average overall.

Jan 27, 2008 12 oz bottle, via iowaherkeye. Pours a clear ruby brown body with a small fizzy beige head that faded quickly. The nose is very grainy and husky with some nutty and light chocolate malt. The flavor is equally grainy and fairly dry with notes of lightly roasted coffee, nutella, and light German hops on the finish. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a husky texture and lots of fizzy carbonation. Overall, not an especially pleasing beer, though I will concede, this may in fact be close to a decent interpretation of the style from an American viewpoint.

Jan 24, 2008 12 oz. bottle from ketchepillar- poured into snifter- poured semi transparent very darken brown amber, light tan head quickly bubbled away, medium carbonation. Aroma of roasted malt, with hints of caramel and chocolate. Hits the mouth with a medium defined body, alcohol seems to hit you in the middle, finish of chocolate and a small spit of hops. Surprisingly drinkable.

Jan 23, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy of Bockyhorsey - My first Iowa beer. Yeeaaa! Pours a clear brown color with a 3/4 finger thick light tan head. Aroma is caramel malt, a touch of chocolate, and herbal hops. Flavor is much of the same. What I like about this beers is the malt doesn’t linger on the palate. Light to medium body. A good beer.
