Commercial Description:
Just in time for the holidays is our special treat. A dark and chewy bock beer. Around November you’ll find ’chocolate bock’ on tap down at the brewery. The history of Bock beer is a complicated one, going all the way back the dark ages in Europe. In the 14th century, the city of Einbeck became famous for this style of beer. So thats where the name "beck" or "bock" has come from. No other beer has a more pure and intense malt character as a true Bock. Many large breweries in the U.S. have diluted the original strength of this beer, but we make the real thing. The body of this beer is rich, making it a good beer to warm up to during those "special" Iowa winters. The blackened malt that we use in it gives the brew a slight hint of chocolate. Its a smooth brew, having been lagered for over a month in our cellars, in true bock style.

Bottled, thanks heemer77. Dark brown colour, small brown head. Chocolate in aroma and malts in aroma. Roasted chocolate in flavour, the finnish becomes a bit chocolateish. A bit thin, but hell, this is good.

Slightly hazy brownish-amber colour. Slight woody note, with cocoa and straightforward maltiness. It’s a bit thin and metallic, but otherwise ok flavours balancing light dark malt notes with cocoa.

Small beige head with clear, dark copper body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, some chocolate, pistachio, soil, light sour lemon. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, chocolate, lemon sour, some grapefruit. Medium, somewhat watery body. Interesting beer, not entirely sure what to make of it.

Ruby-amber color, small coffee head. Grassy hoppy and milk chocolate in the aroma. Coffee beans, chocolate chips and grassy hops in the flavor. Not very bock-like, quite light malt-wise, but very drinkable, not too sweet at least.

Diminishing white head covers a chestnut brown body. Pretty ordinary toasted cereal nose, slightly influences by leafy hops. Weak grapey and woody undertones peak through here and there, but nothing particularly enticing comes out of it. Thin-medium body, mostly relaxing carbonation.

Pours a transparent dark ruby brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma is dominated by milk chocolate, lager yeast, and a touch of German hops. Starts with sugary caramel malty sweetness revealing a touch of lactose and chocolate toward the finish. Fairly well balanced and quite drinkable. Thanks to heemer77 for this fine Iowa brew!

Bottle... Clear, deep, dark, ruby ale with a mid-sized, fizzy, khaki head. Good, tight, creamy retention. Restrained, nutty, chocolate aroma. Malty flavor leans on the sweet side of balance... medium sweetness; gentle bitterness. Toasted nuts and grains. Medium-bodied with medium carbonation. Sweet, dark fruit, chocolaty finish. Thanks to pepsican for floating this brew my way!

Bottle courtesy of CanIHave4Beers. Pours brown with an off white head. Smells earthy with some nutty character. Tastes spicy nd rosey with a dark fruity finish. Some bitterness emerges as the beer warms.
