Cask. Orange pour, fading white head. Strong hoppy nose with complex fragrant perfume, vegetal, pointy leafiness, weel disposed at every angle. Develops interesting white pepper nuance in mouth, orange, strong leafiness, mint toothpaste and even tobacco. Extremely supported hop nuance. Supporting malts show some toastiness and mostly fruit suggestions in the shape of berries or pear. Nicely working cask mouthfeel, a fitting delivery vessel for this brew, the soft carbonation enhancing the aromatics. Very good.

Any first impressions?
-No head atop the chemical orange colour.
-A well-built aroma offers toasted malts, citrusy and peachy fruitiness on a platter of hay.
-Pils-like maltiness cushions the citrusy hops.
-All is lean-bodied and very drinkable.

What if you dig deeper?
-The resinous hop bittterness sticks and remains important throughout the tasting.
-The supporting caramel fruitiness is appreciated.
-No pretention here, other than wanting to offer bold flavors for a pleasant long session.

Sampled at Extreme Beer Fest ’06.

Sweet citrus hop aroma, a bit of diacetyl underneath it. Pale golden colour, thin white head. Flavour is a bit fruity, light grapefruit and some peachy esters. Lingering hoppy finish, light resinousness with ntoes of spice and citrus. Long, resiny finish. Nice pint.

Golden ale with orange hues and a thin white head. Strong floral hops in aroma, with good malt. In mouth, clean crisp malts, funkey hops, and honey notes. Medium bodied and well balanced. Overall, a very nice beer. On tap at EBF 2006.

Sample at EBF 2006. Beautiful, balanced dry-woody, lightly citric hoppy, but fully malty nose is more reminiscent of an ESB than any American style as it escapes from the tawny amber body....apricots abound in both aroma and flavor, also touches of sweet cherry and apple, fresh toasted grains and that dry woody-resinous character, lingering through to the mildly bitter finish.

Mike - you are coming along in leaps and bounds as a brewer. I wish I could get to the pub more often to sample your progress. This was definitely one of my top beers of the festival...
Complex hop nose offers floral, perfumey, citrus, floral and leafy notes with some spiciness and strong, chewy underlying toasted malt base. Lightly hazy orange-copper coloured body is topped by a decent, fine-bubbled, white head that recedes slowly to a lasting cover with some lacing. Toasted malts are stiff in the flavour and match well with the delicate fruitiness and lingering floral, perfumey hop flavours. Balance is key. Fair finishing bitterness is assertive without overwhelming. Light body with moderate carbonation that is gently effervescent. Perhaps more of a strong interpretation of a British style rather than an American Pale Ale but very quaffable and nuanced all the same. I could readily have enjoyed a pint or three of this had the pub been open the next day. Sampled on cask at the Extreme Brewers Fest 2006.

On tap at Millys: Clear orange with a medium white head, light grains and flowers in the aroma, starts and ends lightly bitter, thin bodied with mild carbonation, crisp finish with a lingering bitterness.
