lots of samples at the BA BBF 06. One of the highlights of the festival for me. Aroma: Tart and funky, brett, some belgian yeast and fruit notes. Taste is tart and funky brett, oak, light notes of sugar and light fruits, apples, grapes, etc. this was definitely a winner.

As advertised on the Milly’s website..’’Belgium Lambic’’. The bartender had no information on it. Pours orangy gold with a chill haze. A whisp of white foam appeared briefly on the surface after a stretch pour. Zero lacework over a placid surface shortly after the pour and for the duration of the glass. Cider vinegar, pineapple skin, wet hay, and lemon zest lead off the nose. Hints of bourbon, appleskins and citrus oils follow through. Old socks and cheese rinds step forward as the brew warms. A slightly harsh metallic tinge is present also. Light bodied, with a crisp but almost flat mouthfeel. Sour fruits, tart-laced malt, and some bourbon start the pallet. Lemon oil, bitter wild greens, woody tannins, and drying acid follow through. Finishes tart, with a drying citrus note, a hint of bourbon fusels, and lingering soured fruit. Certainly not in the realm of an authentic Lambic, but pretty damn tasty regardless. The pedigree of this brew might stem from Napoleon’s Exile.

[bottle] Reddish orange color, with a short, bubbly head. Aroma is fruity and barely sour. Initial flavors are full of Brettanomyces, fresh fruits (apples, mild citrus) and sweet sugar. Towards the finish, a mild hop bitterness appears and the oak really comes through, adding another layer of complexity to this beer. A real gem from DirtyMike himself.

From a growler shared at WeeHeavySD’s 2000th rate tasting. Amber color. Light sour lactic acid. Super easy to drink. Very good.

Growler, thanks to WeeHeavySD for sharing. Pours a clear orange-amber with no head. Aroma is sweet and sour and very fruity, of cherries, peaches, and citrus. Taste is sweet and sour, very clean and fruity. Lingering sourness in the back of your throat. Very tasty.

From a growler shared at WeeHeavySD’s 2000th rate tasting. Orangeish yellow pour with not much head. Aromas were tart and fruity. Flavors were more tart with some apple and cherry flavors. Pretty good stuff.

12oz bottle- pours a quickly dissipating white head and hazy deep orange color. Aroma is fermented cherry, apple. Taste is fermented cherry, apple, oaky/wine-like, medium malt. Dry finish. Good effervescence. Nice. Occasional.

Growler via brewsandbbq. Thanks so much. Pours orange with no head and a super duper vinegary sour nose. Taste is sweet and slightly tart, with some light citrus notes. Overall tasty sour, very drinkable and far less tart than the nose suggests but still a nice overall feeling. Thanks for the opportunity to try this!
