Commercial Description:
A traditional scotch ale, caramel and malt sweetness dominates the palate. A full bodied ale that’s higher in alcohol content than most, making it a great after dinner sipper, but definitely not for the mild at heart.

Fair sweet caramel malt aroma with some burnt sugar and dark fruits. Hazy amber-brown with decent off-white head that recedes to ring and partial cover. Very sweet caramel, honey flavour with some dark fruity notes and a lightly roasty finish. Medium-full body with low-fair carbonation. Sampled at the brewpub with dirtymike, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Rastacouere and Volgon.

New England Road Trip Easter ’05 with MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere, beer #18. Small sample at the brewpub, also in the company of Volgon and brewer Dirtymike. Faintly cloudy dark amber with just a murmur of head...fruity, baked apple/apricot in the nose, smoked pecans...full, candyish body, smoky-sweet and lightly herbal, charcoal dries it out...

Dark orange, off-white ring. Strong nut oil aroma reveals plenty of butterscotch richness, caramel, light chocolate and werthers original complete the malt showdown. Sweet, tart and candyish at first, it quickly develops a pleasant smokiness, earthy and long. Good balance in that one. Comfortable mouthfeel, medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Abusive sweetness is aptly prevented by the use of tartish hops. One of my favourites at Milly’s.

A faint aroma, bold grainy sweetness and slick body which are reminiscent of their Goat’s Breath doppelbock...Roasty bitterness diversifies the fruity sugars...Again, these oily malts without much caramel sweetness, and mouthfeels don’t seem to get along with my tastebuds...Or is it the omnipresent yeast signature that just doesn’t fit with me?...

Nice dark orange color with a small head. Bold and slightly sweet taste. Good hops presence.
