tonyc603 (43), New Hampshire, USA May 7, 2007 A very nice beer, not what I recall Wstmalle to be but a good Belgian ale nonetheless. Pours deep cooper out of a growler with a alrge white head. Aroma of mellow apricot and bready malt. Flavor is malty, slightly sweet with some yeast complexity and more breadiness. This could use some more body and oomph, otherwise it’s a nice session beer even at 6.5%. rikkard (8), USA does not count Apr 2, 2007 On tap. I liked this beer alot. Nice cloudy light amber. Light fruit and citrus flavor. Good bitterness. I went back to grab a growler and they were sold out.
Balthazar (86), Clinton, Massachusetts, USA Mar 18, 2007 Ummm.... I actually like it. not too many good beers I’ll say that about. This cloudy copper delight is one to savor. Light hints of citrus offset just the right amount of bitterness. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Feb 25, 2007 on draught. Hazy amber in color, large off white head. Aroma is brown sugar, caramel, light notes of herbal hops, and spices. Taste is caramel and brown sugar, lightly bready, with notes of earthy hops. spices are also very apparent in the taste. The body is medium and so is the level of carbonation. Volgon (2487), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Feb 14, 2007 On tap at Millys: Pours a cloudy brown orange with an off-white head, sweet malts, bread, brown sugar and dark fruits in the aroma, medium body with mellow carbonation, starts and ends lightly sweet with a fast ending. Another winner from Millys. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Feb 12, 2007 Tap at brewpub. A small off-white ring of foam sits on top of a cloudy copper body. A rather light (almost watery) body with some rough malts develops into a fruity taste. Berries and dried fruits meet some tree-bark flavours but the whole thing quickly falls apart leaving a little hops resin after-taste. Overly active carbonation is too much for the flimsy body. This new beer is not one of their regular beer (was called a seasonal at the pub). Not a bad beer at all but considering some of the excellent offerings of this brewpub, I’m not sure this one will remain on the menu. As it stands it’s a Probation on probation. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Feb 11, 2007 5th Anniversary Dubbel Secret Probation-on tap- pours a tan head and cloudy copper/brown color. Aroma is medium malt-sweet, fruit, spice-coriander?, yeast. Taste is aromatic, lots of medium malt-sweet, fruit, spice-coriander?, yeast, secondary hops. Good/OK carbonation. OK, no spices per Mike the brewer. LyndaNova (492), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jan 29, 2007 On tap at Milly’s: Appearance is of apple cider; murky brown caramel color with a thin layer of off-white bubbles, mostly around the edges. Aroma is subdued; of rich malts with some citrus. Taste is of mildly sweet rich malts, dark fruits, brown sugar and citrus. Medium to full bodied and smooth with medium carbonation. Ending is mild; malty and reminiscent of bread.
