Sweet chocolately malts over deeply caramelized malts with a touch of licorice and anise in back. Herbal/earthy hops over a sweet earthy malt base. Hops are a touch resinous, which matches the deep blackstrap molasses character very well. Bittersweet chocolate and earthy/fruity Northern Brewer type hops. Deep malty/earthy finish with a bit of licorice/anise over soft bitterness. Great pint. DarkMagus (433), San Jose, California, USA

Aroma of malt, caramel, roasted grains. Pours a thin head, leaves some light lacing in the glass and a thin layer of fine bubbles. Rich, complex flavor of malt, hops, cocoa, dark roasted coffee... slightly nutty and bitter finish. Great beer, pretty easy to drink despite its rich, dark, complex nature. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
