New England Road Trip Easter ’05 with MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere, beer #19. Small sample at the brewpub, also in the company of Volgon and brewer Dirtymike. Deep walnut with just a trace of light showing through, dark thin head and a modicum of lacing...sweet, dark maltiness dominates the nose with a bit of coffee...sweet front, oatmeal-brown sugar...huge bitter roastiness late, full body...along with the IPA, my favorite.

Dark brown appearance, sticky beige ring. Once again a very malty dark beer for Milly’s. Cofeeish, roasted dark grains, caramelic undertones… Unfortunately, like the stout, a tart vegetal aspect keeps it off being among my favourite of the place. Those hops bring a citric limey character that I’m not too fond of. It just feels wrong in the middle of a cerealic, smokey and roasty domain. Light-medium bodied, lightly carbonated.

Green hop bitterness cooperates with the roasted malt’s...A quenching, ruby-brown body with leafy, assertive hops which surprise as the still interesting malts are almost toppled...A good initiation to porters...

A nice, basic porter. Dark chocolate in color with a hoppy aroma. A little watery in the middle but a nice bitter finish. A good porter and a nice transition into dark beers for the lighter crowd.

Nice dark color, nice amberish color on bottom. Good aroma. Thin white head. Flavorful and easy to drink.

I have to agree with Volgon on this one. I'm a dark beer girl and this one wasn't quite up to my standards but it's a nice first foray into the world of dark beer for a beginners. . Coke in color a thick head like whipped cream with an almost malted milk aroma. A nice 'light" porter.

Dark amber with an unremarkable white head. For my taste buds, similar in taste to most brown ales I've had. Nothing here to make me sit up and take notice. A beer that's easy to drink without having to think about it.
