willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Apr 26, 2008 20061209 Party at Capt Lawrence. Growler. Dark amber color, hazed. Aromas are massive with woodsy, spruce, grapefruit, orange-citrus hops, and aromatic bitters. Resinous yet unctuous, harsh bitter to finish but lastingly coating. Strong and hefty malt background is at once sturdy, yet not so bready, doughy, or flavorful as to overtake the big hops. Really nice. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 02/10/2007

hazy orange, frothy off white head, big hop aroma on a sweet malt base with a hint of grassy character (crystal dry hop), lots of hop flavor leading to a long bitter finish, plenty of candy sweetness comes as a second wave to add complexity rather than balance, quite tasty and dangerously drinkable,

Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 14, 2007 Cask at Boston EBF 2007. Slightly cloudy golden body with almost no head. With a name like that I got what I expected, an avalanche of hops. This one was all about the juicy citrusy hops that lacked a bit in intensity but made up for it in quantity. Alcohol was surprisingly well hidden despite the light body and timid carbonation (even by cask standards). Hops juice. What happens when you mix hops and obnoxious together? A nice beer... or me on week-ends. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 14, 2007 EBF 2007: Hazy copper color with a loose white head. Aroma, caramel malts, some earthy hops. Flavor, lots of caramel and pale malts up front with some earthy and herbal notes on the back end. Decent bitterness, but this just didn’t do it for me. tonyc603 (43), New Hampshire, USA Feb 5, 2007 Man is this one ever obnoxiously hoppy and I love it! Nice deep golden color with a large white head. Aroma is full of fresh cut flowers, fruit, citrus and spice. Flavor is of oranges, grapefruit, lemons, very bitter with a good mouthfeel. This could have more malt character, but I’d still love it either way. Becareful, this beer is very deceptive I didn’t realize it was 9.5% until it was too late.Good times, hop times, enough said. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Jan 21, 2007 Poured a hazy golden with a white head. Strong citrus and pine hop aroma. Flavor is strong pine with a bit of grapefruit hops, leading to a very dry finish. Not a whole lot of sweetness, and the dry bitterness lacks a bit of hop complexity. Overall comes off a bit unbalanced, but still a good hoppy drink. Glistens like the sweat on a man’s testicles (sorry, couldn’t bring myself to complete the entire description...) Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Dec 10, 2006 Big thanks to Hophead75 for bringing a growler to share at the captain lawrence open house. This was one of my favorites of the night. 9.5% ! Pours a deep orange with a nice sticky lasting head and some nice lacing on my glass. Very hoppy overall- lots of citrus, pine, orange peel, and even a hint of harsh smokiness from the chinook/? Nice full flavor and body with tons of hops, a bit of crystal matl backbone, and an extrememly harsh pleasant bitterness in the end which was nice. Damn tasty DIPA. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Dec 10, 2006 growler courtesy of dirtymike shared at the CL RB gathering, thanks Mike! This year’s version is 9.5 %. Deep golden/light amber in color. Lots of citrus, light pine, and malts blend nicely in the aroma. The taste is huge ctrrus, with a nice piney bitterness, oily/slick mouthfeel, full bodied. Lingering bitterness in the finish. really enjoyed this, and looking forward to more!
