Mar 13, 2006 on tap-pours a rich brown head with black color. Aroma is dark malt, sweet. Taste is coffee, dark malt, sweet, roasty. Licorice, full body. Not my taste but nicely done.

Feb 12, 2007 Tap at brewpub. Black body with a long-lasting medium tan head. What a nice imperial stout! The taste foundation is very much dark chocolate/cacao with maybe a few hints of dark fruits. Not much coffee or dry roastiness here. Very round and smooth with no sign of alcohol. However what makes this one a superior imperial stout is its hops character and dosage. Chocolate body with a tart citrusy hoppy finish is a tricky business but when done right it is truly enjoyable. Nice finish mixing cacao and tartness that prevents you from putting your glass down. Such a highly drinkable 8.8% beer would be more appropriately called Imperial Death Stagger.

Feb 14, 2007 EBF 2007: Great name. Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor, chocolate and some coffee. Too thin on the palate, really un-remarkable.

May 22, 2006 from growler at Milly’s. taster. Jet Black with a long lasting dark tan/light brown head. Aroma is huge, and of chocolate roast, caramel. Taste is very big, of roast, chocolate, sweet malt, big, thick chewy. Roasty and hoppy bitterness in the finish. One of the best I’ve had of this style.

Feb 14, 2006 EBF 06. Pours a bubbly black color with a huge dark brown bubbly head. Nose is chocolate, cocoa, light coffee and roasted malts. Flavors of light espresso, more chocolate, roasted and caramel malts. Brown sugary sweetness and a bitter finish. Palate is smooth and creamy.

Apr 11, 2007 Hand bottled from Dickinson beer. Pour was the much quoted, used motor oil. But That fits well. Black slick body with a creamy brown head. Nose is bitter chocolate, espresso and roasted malts. Upon taste I get some warming from % that I no not, and a touch, complimentary of smoke. Really creamy. This is a great one. Finish linger on the tongue like Belgian dark chocolate. Thanks this was great! I LOVED THIS!

May 21, 2006 On tap at Milly’s Tavern. Big black color with a dark creamy head. Smooth smooth smooth. Big roasty with a milder chalkiness with a small bitterness in there.
