1FastSTi (2402), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Mar 26, 2007 Got the last of the cask on Saturday. The beer pours to a very unfiltered murky deep caramel colored body. A dense creamy/soapy white head sits on top. The flavor is "boozy". Sweet yellow apple skins, perhaps a dash of pears, bitter grassy hops on the finish. I didn’t ask what they used for booze because I wanted to see if I could detect what it was. Definitely barrel aged or booze infused, although I couldn’t tell what. Likely subjects seemed to be Calvados, brandy, or perhaps a dash of sour mash. The aroma has notes of Sweet Tarts, pears, sharp earthy fruitiness. Nice combination. The palate is creamy, full-bodied, bitter, and hoppy. Nice. Ughsmash (3082), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Feb 20, 2007 On cask. Poured a hazy medium caramel with a tall, creamy off-white head. Nose picked up a hefty dose of orange zest and related spices.. sweet and enticing, with a welcome presence from the Grand Marnier. Sweet caramel and orange candies in the flavor with heavier caramel and grainy, woody notes toward the back... quite refreshing. Light-medium bodied with mild bitterness.. decent feel from the cask treatment.
