Nice frothy head at first with a deep amber and reddish hue. Aroma of toffee and some nutmeg. Deeper exploration upon the palate reveals a lack of complexity. A little biscuit and dried fruit. Slight bittering character, but again fails to be anything more than mediocre.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear copper color with thin white head that left a little lace. Smelled of dried cherry and a touch of sprucy hops. Tasted of dried fruit and biscuity malt. Dry and slightly bitter on the tongue with medium body.

Sample @ Brewery. Medium sweet malt aroma. Red body with no head. Had a juicy burst of bubblegum. Like the gum with the gel in the middle. Good beer.

In bottle form. A red/copper/amber brew with no head (perhaps my pour into the glass). Had a very appealing aroma, nice and malty with some grains and a mild sweetness. Louie’s Demise had a very smooth and malty flavor, a nice big malt backbone supports this amber ale. All in all a very good beer. This would make a great session ale without a doubt. I’d love to try this gem on tap.

12oz bottle via trade with DavidP - Thanks David! - Pours deep amber with a creamy tan head that stayed pretty well and laced some on the glass. Nice aroma of caramel malts, and light floral hops. Flavor was mostly malty as well. Caramel, toffee, and a nice floral hop finish. Palate was medium bodied and pretty smooth to drink. Not bad at all for an amber..

Tried as part of a beer sampler at the Milwaukee Ale House. Has a mild aroma, that was hard to pick up (even though I was in a private room flargely free of other odors). Has a decent darker red-brown amber body, with a whitish head. Kind of a bitter flavor, it was pretty good. Good body, and decent carbonation. Overall, it’s a pretty good ale, and I would have it again.

This beer is a tribute to Ale House owner Mike Bieser’s great, great, uncle Louie. The story goes that in 1886 in a Sheboygan, WI bar, Louie was cracked over the head with a beer glass and died. No one knows who did it, or why they did it, they just know Uncle Louie met his demise. The tale of Louie’s demise has become a part of the tavern legend of Wisconsin, and in that spirit this beer was brewed. What Louie might not have achieved in life, he has achieved in death. Louie’s Demise is the Ale Houses’ most popular beer, and it can be found in about 60 bars and restaurants in Milwaukee. So lets all raise a glass to Uncle Louie! Louie’s Demise Ale pours to a deep amber color with a slight tan head, and a soft carbonation. The palate is rich and delicious, with lots of pale, sweet and caramel malt flavors. Just a touch of chocolate maltiness can be detected as well. This body is full, but lean enough that it isn’t too fat and cloying on the tongue. This beer finishes with more good malt flavor and is balanced with a nice herbal hop bitterness in the finish. Stylistically, I wouldn’t call this beer the most accurate example of Scottish Export I have ever had, but I didn’t mind, and I don’t think Louie would either. On draught, this beer was just so fresh and tasty, it really impressed me. This is a rich, delicious, malt accented brew with just enough hop presence to make it very drinkable. This is a great pint to belly up to the bar with at the Milwaukee Ale House, or one of the great bars of Milwaukee. I enjoyed this beer with a grilled ribeye steak sandwich, served on a grilled portabello mushroom. If ever in Milwaukee, have a few for Uncle Louie.

A very drinkable amber ale with a bit more flavor than normal...has a nice crispy hoppiness and toasty carmel flavors that makes this brew very drinkable.
