(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with hopdog, thanks Steve!) Sweet, malty, quite caramely, moderately bitter, reasonable balance -- that could describe the flavor of most amber ales, and described this one too, but the slight earthiness and toastiness shake things up just a bit in this amber, both in the flavor and nose. The nose also shows a bit of the expected caramely malt. Medium bodied and easy on the palate. Slightly hazy, dark amber body is capped by a small, light tan head. The head shrinks to a wide ring and film while leaving several spots of lace on the glass. This is a fine amber, maybe slightly above average, but not really all that out of the ordinary.

Dark copper body that is more clear and pretty the picture of the pint glass shows. There are only traces of a head on top. The aroma is darkly roasted walnuts with some bread crust. There is also some old tobacco and a hint of orange peels. The taste has some light grapefruit peels and roasted almonds. There is also some toffee and tobacco. A well made amber.

Grainy faintly hoppy aroma, noble-ish. Some malt in the aroma, but mostly just grainy. Much better malt flavor than the aroma. Medium to full-bodied. Light bitterness, clean yeast character.

A thick ring was the only head atop this deep amber/caramel offering. Aroma was big on lemon with nutty malts. Lemon carries through to the flavor, with thick & sweet malts and a nutty finish. Malty and sessionable. If Louie’s actually dead, this is only a mediocre tribute.

Poured an amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of buttery, toffee malt, straw, and light citrus hops. Lots of malt in this one, caramel and toffee, while finishing with citrus bitterness. Nothing special, but a quaffable session ale. Thanks hopdog!

Fresh, fruity aroma. Typical amber aroma. Reddish, brown body. Thin white head. Clear body. No lace. No visible carbaontion. Basic, roasted malt flavor that is dominated by malt. A little thin, mostly malty with some sweetness. Not bad, but nothing spectacular. Session possibilities.

This beer pours to a thin tan head atop a dark brown body. The aroma is much like the Maker’s Demise w/o the oak. The flavor is iced tea and light Noble hops. The palate is creamy and medium bodied. Not bad, but nothing special.

Tap: copper amber with a surprising hoppineess to the aroma. Flavor has a faint hint of sweet caramel malt, and that’s it. Bottle from Gondor has no hop presence whatsoever. Just grainy sweet caramel malt, toasty/roasted notes and not much else.
