Flavor has a faint hint of sweet caramel malt, and that’s it. Bottle from Gondor has no hop presence whatsoever. Just grainy sweet caramel malt, toasty/roasted notes and not much else. hopdog (5630), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

The flavor was of sweeter graperfuit/hopps, and a light touch of malts and something else I couldn’t pick out .. a pretty good weak IPA. fuyajo (225), Portland, Oregon, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2004 Updated: Nov 16, 2004This is a descent brew. It’s very smooth and even sweet, almost syrupy, dare I say. Has nice medium brown undertones when it first hits your tongue, but then it livens up to its amber ale status. Since it’s the Milwaukee Ale House’s best seller, you’d be doing a disservice by not trying it, but after you’ve had your preview, switch over to the Pull Chain brew. It’s very similar, just more malt and hops and less sweet. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 2, 2004 On tap at the brewpub. Red amber out of the tap with almost no head. Sweet beer with an almost white sugar taste. It is billed as a "Scotch" ale, but I’m glad that RB has it as an amber. Nothing wrong with it but not much going on.
