| A Bière de Garde brewed by Brasserie Theillier Bavay, France
| |
JorisPPattyn (4224), Antwerpen, Belgium May 3, 2008 Gushing to huge white head, leaving lace over deep straw-golden beer. Very "beery" nose, as the malts at a working brewery, freshly opened (pale) maltsacks. Sweet pale malts taste, even grainy, but lined by bitter hopflavours, as from yeast adhering. Rather remarkable as the beer seems totally filtered. Can’t get the wheat. Light to medium bodied, some grist slickness. Aftertaste more bitter, dandelion-like. Simple, straightforward and unpretentious beer, but pleasing - "lawnmower" as in the US expression.
