Commercial Description:
The beer is finds it inspiration in Germany. The first beer we've brewed is a German Altbier. Traditionally this is an ale, ie. a topfermented beer, but in our version it is a bottom fermented beer, though fermented at higher temperatures, which lends it the characteristics of a top fermented beer. Actually it is a clone of a top fermented and a bottom fermented beer, since it ferments for 28-30 days, starting at rather high temperatures, which is lowered gradually, so it matures the last 10-14 days at 2-4 degrees Centigrade. The result is an ale from the English tradition, but also with some of the characteristics of the way lagers are brewed.

Draught at McGonicle, Copenhagen. Slightly hazy amber coloured. Fruity aroma with notes of yeast and malts. Rather light and fruity flavour with some sweetness and some hoppy bitterness. Light to medium bodied.

Draught at McGonigle, Denmark.
A hazy golden beer with a green hue and a fine white head. Mainly yeasty and fruity aroma with a herby touch. Flavor is fruity hoppy with a biding mouthfeel and some yeasty grassy tones. A pretty nice and refreshing beer though I have a hard time believing it is an altbier.

I was confused when I drank this beer, since the waiter knew absolutely nothing about it - and drinking it I really couldn’t figure out the type, then reading the description of the beer, my confusion is complete - I really can’t figure out what the brewer has been trying to make.

A hazy amber beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma is slightly acidic with notes of straw and barn-yard. The flavor is sweet and acidic with strong herbal notes as well as lesser fruity notes - especially oranges, leading to an end, that is more herbal than hoppy. I sure hope the confusion wears off.
