pours mostly black with a huge rocky light brown head and lots of spotty lacing.
strange smell... something tart, charcoal, minerals, grain, coffee and chocolate. something in there is definitely off...
the flavor is of sour grain and limes... booo!... mineral water, roast and an aftertaste of coffee. it’s gone bad... still, it’s drinkable.
medium bodied with a light tinny mouth feel from high acidity. booo! 4/4/2.5/2/9/2.15

Aroma of sweet coffee,toffee,carmel- taste seems a bit watery - nice carbonated mouthfeel. taste is a bit bland for me and bordered on sour but not to the extent of other posts- not great. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 23, 2008 Deep black with garnet highlights under an oily head. Deep roast aroma, mid-coffee and chocolate under. Full bodied with a carbonated lift. Nice balance of chocolate sweets easing into bittersweets then coffee/tea bitters. Surprisingly enjoyable, since my expectations were elevated. It takes some balls to use the word ’’Founders’’ when naming one’s stout. (Like Mishawaka’s IPA, this is better on tap than bottled.)

It wasnt funny, Sean. I am going to take a shit on every bottle I have for you right now. Infected bottle, I dont even know if I should rate this, but I will because I like to be like a clock and rate any beer that graces my lips. It looks nice in the glass, it even smells nice like coffee and chocolate. But when you taste it..... it is so sour it almost makes you gag. This beer shows promise but went straight into the drain. Thanks for this awesome beer Sean, I rank it up there with the Becks AF. djcoolhark (21), South Bend, Indiana, USA
