It lacks something special that would make it great, but it is a good beer. May be a little too carbonated for a stout, but oh well... mattal (4), Munster, Indiana, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 26, 2005 A very good dry Stout. I was impressed with the complexity of malts, and the palate was just dry enough. Coffee-like taste with a hint of nuts. Poured perfectly by the resident hottie bartender. Light roasted chocolate aroma and a light roasted sweet chocolate coffee taste. Medium body and a dry finish. Ungstrup (15343), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 8, 2005 A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted with notes of alcohol, while the flavor is roasted with notes of chocolate, on a sour background, as if it lacks alcohol, and the body is thin. The end is dry roasted. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 8, 2005 Good roatyness in the aroma, with some underlying sweetness. Jet black body, with a medium sized tan head. Flavor starts out roasty, then it turns quite sour and unpleasant. Maybe it was a bad bottle? tronraner (1933), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 18, 2005 Bottle. Pours opaque ruby black with a persistent light head. The aroma of hops and bitter chocolate. Smooth palate with flavors of coffee and malt. Nothing too creative here, but a good, solid, tasty dry stout. tjthresh (1778), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 4, 2005 Updated: Aug 23, 2005This beer features a light roast aroma. I would like them to ramp this up a touch more. Pours pitch black with light brown creamy head. Dark chocolate and esspresso notes are the overriding flavors, and finishes with a very nice roast and hop bitterness. Medium to light body. Brewery’s most popular for good reason.
