The aroma was absolutely incredible...rich, dark chocolate, roasty, smoky, woody character. The flavor was well roasted with a hint of smoke...wood, coffee, dark chocolate. Medium thick, chewy feel with a semi-dry finish. Great dry stout...one of the best I've tried! djcoolhark (21), South Bend, Indiana, USA

I’ve heard some problems about bottles from friends, but the tap lets this one shine. A great malted coffee taste. shrubber85 (2984), Wallhalben, Germany

Rich complex flavor - get an initial flavor of dark chocolate-coffee that changes to a rich creamy caramel flavor and is finished with a nice hops that is nicely balanced. A nicely made stout - tasty, well balanced flavors. Draught purists may not like the slight carbonation. mattal (4), Munster, Indiana, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 26, 2005 A very good dry Stout. I was impressed with the complexity of malts, and the palate was just dry enough. Coffee-like taste with a hint of nuts. Poured perfectly by the resident hottie bartender. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 15, 2003 This draft brew was rated at the brewery with BigBadBear63 after a visit with him. It poured a medium sized dark brown foamy head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind an opaque black body with no visible carbonation and a good lace. The aroma was mild with notes of dark malt and mollasses. The mouthfeel was very smooth from start to finish and slightly tingly. It had a mild coffee, dark malt, mollaasses and toffee flavor. Smooth, nice, and dark! Finally a great brew from a brewery near home. A must try! CaptainCougar (5522), Rockville, Maryland, USA

This beer has a wonderful tan, almost guinness-like head. It’s very full-bodied and slightly bittersweet with an even sweeter aftertaste. There was a hint of oatmeal in the palate. It won the world beer cup in ’96 and ’98, and I’m surprised that I had to add it to this site. A must try if you can find a bottle, or visit the brewpub. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA

Aroma hints of smoke, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, roasted grain, and ripe fruit. Rich smoky and sweet taste, that is well-balance by the English style hopping. Finishes dry and chalky. Full-bodied with a creamy and lively mouthfeel. Very good dry stout, not a complex as some, yet very quaffable. trappist12 (200), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
