Black brown color with a creamy tan head. Flavor is acidic prune, molasses and bitter burnt toast. Light mouthfeel with a dry, almost tannic finish. Predominantly sour, not destined to be one of my favorites. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA

Appearance: Smooth, velvety extremely dark brown pour. Flavor: No butteriness in the flavor = good; roasted cocoa nibs; minerals in the middle (sulfites); roasty and slightly dry with plenty of chocolate flavor in the finish. Palate: Medium-light, a bit thin. Overall: Okay, isnt’ growing on me; not as bad as expected (the flavor actually saves this beer).

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Sep 6, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown body with a small fizzy light brow head that receded to a wispy partial covering. The nose seems off from the first sniff, lots and lots of diacetyl going on and just a bit of roastiness makes it past. The flavor is fairly decent at first, very roasty and dry with a nice coffee note. The finish reveals the flaw quite prominently, lots and lots of butter. There’s a tinge of slightly acrid , not quite sour, burnt malt that doesn’t mix too well with the butter. Medium bodied with a bit of a slick finish and very prickly fizzy carbonation. Not a god efort at all. Cletus (5059), Connecticut, USA

Tastes of chocolate, some dark fruit, some peppery splashes on the finish. TheBeerOrg (1589), Kentucky, USA

Notes of acidic roast malt, tart fruits, dark coffee, and minerals. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Got better once it warmed up for an hour or so and lost some of its carbonation.
