Commercial Description:
Four Horsemen is brewed as an Irish style Red Ale using six malts and three hop varieties. It was a Silver Medal winner at the 1994 Great American Beer Festival. It has a deep reddish-copper color. Initial taste is the residual maltiness of this popular beer balanced with moderate hop bitterness.

Decent aroma, average appearance. Not a big fan of the intensity of the hops and malts, but it does have a slightly thick and intriguing palate. Not as bad as my score would suggest, it’s only real problem is that it doesn’t LOOK appealing, and really, what does that matter?

Clear bronze/vermillion body under a wisp of white. Malty nose with a touch of candied citrus. Balanced flavor with gentle bitter citrics meeting broad caramel semi-sweetness. Finishes quick, but if anything lingers it’s a faint malted sweetness. I warmed up to it.

12oz bottle, courtesy of a trade from a while ago. Thanks! Pours a clear, orange-amber color with a slight haze; thin off-white head with patchy lacing. Basic brown sugar and red fruit maltiness in the nose; some tea-like tannic presence. Medium mouthfeel: brown sugar, tea leaves, and some caramel; not a lot of sweetness or chewiness; just a basic, drinkable, tea-infused red; minimal hops. Medium finish: brown sugar, tea, and some dryness; very general bitterness, partly tannic and partly hops.

Courtesy of kmweaver. Mostly clear amber body with a small white head. Mostly berries and caramel in the nose with some caramel. The flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter with caramel, dough, biscuit, herbal hops and raisins. Medium/light body is a bit thin with light carbonation.

Bottle shared at Dark Lord Day with alexanderj, kleyland, and alexanderj’s brother. Pours a hazy, amber color. Sweet, malty aroma. Smoky, bready malt taste. Clean finish.
