12 oz bottle. Somewhat sweet aroma, but a very hoppy, very bitter taste. Not a beer I would drink again.

Bottle. Clear amber with a rocky head. Fairly mild aroma is pale malts and floral hops. Smooth medium body. Decent flavor is citrusy hops with some pale malt sweetness. Not too bad.

Bottled. The body was dark bronze amber with a light khaki head. The aroma was strong grapefruit with some almonds. There was also some almond. The taste was almonds with some toast. There were also some hints of pine. An earthy, dirty finish.

Bottle from hopdog. Cool bottle art. I really like the depiction of the stoned hop bud. Kudos. Pours copper more or less with a great lasting white head and sticky lacing. Aroma is very earthy with leafy herbal hops and a good amount of malty sweetness. The flavor up front is nice and earthy, piney and herbal with moderate bitterness, a touch of metal which detracts from the nice hop profile, and a decent malt backbone that came across as doughy more than anything else really. Too bad there was the metallic aspect, as I really liked the tree like hops, as they left a nice zingy gritty mouth feel.

Pours a dark copper with medium white head. Aroma is earthy and sweet, lots of caramel. Flavor is malty, lots of dark crystal and even has a touch of chocolate in there. Hops are really all bitterness and very resiny, just a touch of citrus. Should’ve been called Malthead.

Pours dark copper with a half-inch head of rocky foam. A persistant skim coat displays some decent retention with some smeared lacework. Aromatics are a balance of malt and hops. A smidge of chocolate is present as well, and the hops are subdued. Traces of citrus and pine, but certainly nothing floral or pungent. Medium bodied and slightly chewy. Somewhat crisp and tacky. Malt-forward on the pallet, with more cocoa and some piney hops follow through. Bitterness is firm and fairly substantial. Here again, the hops are present, but are overcome by the malt character. Finishes with some lingering minerally bitterness, roasted malt, bakers chocolate, and a tinge of pine sap. To my tastes, the name "Hophead" is certainly a misnomer. No freshness dating on the bottle, but I was told by the gentleman I bought them from that they had just come in.

Bottle given by crizay...thanks man. Pour is copper with a big white head. Nose is earthy hops and bicut malt. Very malty flavor with decent amount of hops upfront. Very soft carbination, and that is a good thing. Just a little watery, but pretty enjoyable.

Bottle. Gusher. Poured copper with a huge white head that leaves big chunky lacing. Aroma similar to tea with a malt background. Pretty dull flavor. Mainly malts. High carbonation. Light body and tingly on the tongue. Possible bottling problem. (Rating from June ’07)
