| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 6, 2008 Pours a dark mahogany, nearly black, with the brown showing around the edges and a slender tan head. No lace. It has an aroma of roasted malt & barley, iced coffee, slightly curdled cream, and a roast nut bitterness. Smooth to drink, the flavor pretty well echoes the aroma except that an earthy bitterness is added that lingers into the finish. Don’t know what the ABV is, but it seems pretty sessionable.

Poured clear dark brown color with a huge brown frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate ground coffee, chocolate aroma. Medium body with a sour texture. Medium roasted coffee sour flavor with a medium sour finish of long duration.
This beer was not good and I hope it was one bad bottle and not a pattern. BBB63 (4232), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 27, 2008 12 oz bottle and served in standard pint glass: deep brown with creamy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of iced mocha coffee, prune, grassy hops, burnt malts, and a hint of DMS. The taste is mostly malty with chocolate and toasted bread, very little hop or coffee character. Some lactic acid twang. The mouth feel is smooth and a tad underwhelming. Okay. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 3, 2009 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a very small sized head of foamy fine to large sized brown colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a opaque typically carbonated black colored body. The aroma was cocoa coffee and dark malt. The semi-thick mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of dark malt and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 11, 2009 Bottle. Small semi-fizzy light brown head that mostly diminished, fair amount of lacing and an opaque dark brown body. The aroma was very much coffee and burnt malts. The coffee packed a punch in the flavor, malty, some chocolate, and it had a very watery and thin flavor. The mouthfeel was smooth, thin and watery. This is a light bodied stout. Something wrong with this beer...can you say infected? Next! patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Dec 10, 2008 bottle - Infected. Of the nine bottled Mishawaka beers I have had, all different styles were and purchased at different times over a couple years, this makes at least the third that has been infected. Two others were debatable. At this point it is not just bad luck. They have a huge bottling problem that is apparently plagued them for years. Their draft beer may be good, but I cannot recommend anyone buy any of their bottles until this infection issue is fixed. This beer pours near black with almost no head. It smells like roast coffee beans. It takes like very watery, sour coffee. It is crap. Drain pour. NachlamSie (1637), Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours pretty dark, near black with a small tan head. I eagerly took a sniff, hoping for some fresh, roasty coffee but couldn’t really find any. Any coffee character the aroma has is pretty tame, I’ve encountered other stouts that don’t even use coffee with stronger hints. The nose seems pretty sweet, some caramel and chocolate is noted. A bit more coffee is detected in the flavor, but again, nothing very strong. A slightly dry chocolate hint is here, faint woody hops, coffee as an afterthought in the finish. Not bad, but pretty underwhelming.
