Smells soapy with touches of light citrus and perfumy. Tastes of citrus and slightly watery (as is fit for this style). A little too lemony for a kolsch, but a nice light drinker. tjthresh (1782), Greenfield, Indiana, USA

Bright golden yellow with more haze than I’d expect in a kolsch. Very mild fruity sweet, citrus aroma. The flavor was also very sweet, but still very drinkable. A bit of a drier finish would be ideal. Nice silky body. Middle of the road. kwoeltje (1333), Manchester, Missouri, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 14, 2006 (draught) light-medium gold, almost no head, but nice lace. Malt aroma. Flavor is slightly sweet malt with a citrus hops finish. Maybe they’ve improved the brew - it was much better than what everyone else describes here. ucusty (1921), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 19, 2003 A sub-standard Kolsch. Lacks the true fruity, yet dry and subtly tangy properties of a Kolsch. It was also served way too cold. Body was thin and the taste perceptions seemed layered upon one another, never quite mixing well and fully pleasing my palate. CaptainCougar (5544), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 24, 2007 Bottle straight from the brewery: Pours a clear pale golden with a small, stringy-lacing wispy white head. Aroma of semi-sweet, grainy pale malts and the slightest hint of fruity esters. Body starts about average for the style with a very mild flavor and grain husk notes before a slightly more bitter and drier crisp finish. Pretty drinkable and close to style, but that’s about it. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 23, 2007 Bottle. Sweet and slightly grainy aroma, not really appealing. Clear golden body is heavily carbonated with a soapy white head. Crisp medium body, slightly oily. Taste is biscuity, bready, and slightly grainy, sweet and malty with a touch of citrus but no hops or bitterness. Can’t call this a Kölsch, but can certainly drink it. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jun 2, 2006 Tap at brewery: Geez go figure, served way too cold even for a Kölsch, finally after waiting about 20 minutes able to taste. Well it is a bit grainy and has some sweet malt background with almost no bitterness minus a hit of citric twang. Drinakble but hardly to style.
