Commercial Description:
Brewed as an American Pale Ale with large quantities of Oregon Cascade hops and lesser amounts of other hops. A strong but pleasant hop flavor at the start with a smooth hoppy finish. Silver Medal 1995 World Beer Championships. Lake Effect Pale Ale gets its name from the winter storms that develop over Lake Michigan and then drop its moisture in the form of large and numerous snow flakes resulting in snow accumulations up to two feet near the lake and lessening to the east.

Bottle. Pours a clear light amber with a slightly off-white head. Aroma is dominated by malt notes giving a grainy aroma, some molasses and caramel present. Flavor is dominated by malts as well, slight piney undertone, but mainly a grainy biscuit flavor.

Pours dark orange with a mostly receding off-white head. Notes of soapy hops, cheese, pear, citrus and acidity. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Found this one bottled at a liquor store in St. John, Indiana, as part of a mix 12 pack of various beers from Indiana brewers. Very citrusy brew overall, with plenty of lemon, lime and grapefruit in the nose and flavor. Pucker-dry finish. Not bad!

Maybe a bad bottle - virtually flat beer with no head, almost no carbonation. tasty though, with pleasant maliness mixed with slight hops / spice finish. Will seek out a new bottle to re-rate - with more lively carbonationt his brew would be quite good.

Pours dark yellow with almost no head. Has a hint of strong hops, only for a brief moment during consumption. Very little flavor in addition to that. Aftertaste is slightly dry. This beer is not bad, much better than Mishawaka’s Hop Head, in my opinion.

Deep golden & clear under a white, fizzy film. Nutty aroma & flavor. Hops? Not really, despite their claim that PNWs are supposed to dominate. Low vinegar notes. A bit hearty for an APA but also a bit sub-par. Think <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/dundee-pale-ale/37638/>J.W. Dundee’s as far as quality. Crisp finish.

A golden apperance with on this one. The aroma contains some grapefruit and lemons. The flavor is somewhat bitter with some lemons, grapefruit, and a grassy type flavor. Overall this a lemon bomb though. Not bad but nothing amazing
