Commercial Description:
Brewed as an American Pale Ale with large quantities of Oregon Cascade hops and lesser amounts of other hops. A strong but pleasant hop flavor at the start with a smooth hoppy finish. Silver Medal 1995 World Beer Championships. Lake Effect Pale Ale gets its name from the winter storms that develop over Lake Michigan and then drop its moisture in the form of large and numerous snow flakes resulting in snow accumulations up to two feet near the lake and lessening to the east.

Deep urine in color with a wispy head. Slight grapefruit nose. Very slight, soapy, lame. Light on the palate.

Sample from a bomber; poured a copper color with a medium white head. Aroma wasn’t too strong, but what was there was citrus, must and caramel. Flavor was citrus and lemon in the finish; a decent caramel/lightly toasted malt background. Average example of the style.

Bottle courtesy of stfun. Pours copper with a white head. Smells citrussy with some earthy malt. Tastes of dry malt, pepper, some spicy hints. Mouthfeel is full with a dry finish.

Pleasant mild aroma. The beer doesn’t look that good though. Very cloudy yellow with a lot of particles floating around. Flavor is a bit odd but in a good way. A sourness is evident along with a nice hop taste. Crisp finish.Pretty good.

12oz - Aroma of sweet caramel with overripe citrus hops. Pours transparent copper with a small head and good lacing. Flavor is malty with a decent hop back. Caramel and cardboard followed by astringent citrus hops. Palate is slightly tart and sticky. If you could take out "overripe" and "astringent" from this review, it wouldn’t be that bad of a beer.

12 oz bottle from Chalet Party Shoppe in Goshen, IN. Big pop/hiss. Clear pale yellow straw color with large, fluffy, long lasting, white head. Aroma is slightly lemon sour, citrus hops, orange. Grainy ctirus hops with slight malt lemon sourness, not bad, though not a pale ale. Medium to light body with okay carbonation. Not bad, though I have a feeling that this beer is pretty old.

pours gold with a slight haze. Big head, spotty lacing and some suspended floaters. Hoppy aroma on the nose. Watery mouth-feel with a hoppy bitter finish.
