Commercial Description:
Brewed as an American Pale Ale with large quantities of Oregon Cascade hops and lesser amounts of other hops. A strong but pleasant hop flavor at the start with a smooth hoppy finish. Silver Medal 1995 World Beer Championships. Lake Effect Pale Ale gets its name from the winter storms that develop over Lake Michigan and then drop its moisture in the form of large and numerous snow flakes resulting in snow accumulations up to two feet near the lake and lessening to the east.

Not bad, lacks the punch of their IPA, but is still pretty good, especially to complement their bar food. Nice hoppy aroma and flavour, well balanced with some malts too.

Draft sampler at MBC. Clear amber color with a moderate white head that diminished slowly. Moderate hop and citrus aroma. Medium body. Moderate hoppy flavor with a small bitter finish. Good pale ale.

Cloudy brighter-golden pour with a nice 1/4"-1/2" white head. Nice lacing as it went down. Very pleasant aroma of citrus and pine hops.. with a sweet malt component. Weak on the front of the palate, but the hops come through toward the middle. Nice light-medium caramel malt backbone. Bitter on the finish, but the flavors aren’t so clear.

Amarillo? Probably not. Tastes kind of like it though. Light but perfectly pleasing aroma. Nice golden color with ample white head and light bubbles. Pretty average pale ale. Still kind of taste the amarillos. Good bitterness. Enjoyable, but not great.

Clear light gold in color with a short yet creamy white head. Somewhat reserved aroma, but a bold hop presence seems to be hiding under the covers. Some maple and grassy elements surface as well. A little thin, but I remind myself that it’s just an APA. Reserved hop profile leads to some underlying pine needles, matching with a semi-equidistant caramel malt sweetness.

Draft. Compares favorably to Sierra Nevada. Very light color, almost lagery, but with the full ale flavor and fruitiness of SNPA. Mild, easy drinking, though the mouthfeel is just a tad watery. Just a tad gassy, the only drawback.

Draft: Has a good malt earthiness, not all that sweet. But the carb level is so high it thins out the beer and the flavor suffers. Nice hop additions; quite grapefruity. Nice but flawed.
