ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Sep 29, 2009 Clear pale pour thin white head and spotty lace. Spicy aroma. Similar flavor profile. Meh vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Sep 16, 2007 Maybe this is another example where I love the style so much I’m rating it higher than most, but I thought this was a very good take on a Belgium wit and quite unique. Pours lightly hazy yellow with a small white head. The aroma has lots of sharp lemony citrus, bits of sweet orange, some some and a bit of chalk. Medium / thin crisp body with lots and lots of sharp carbonation that somehow works with the flavors. Starts with lots of lemony citrus, sharp wheat, some grapefruit and a little soapiness. This is extra tart for the style. The finish is clean, tart and short. Overall a very nice beer that I will get again if possible. JohnC (2230), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jul 21, 2007 Thanks to BBB63 for this one.
It pours a hazy straw yellow with a quiclydisappering head. It’s tangy sweet and thirst quenching Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 26, 2007 Bottle thanks to BBB63. Poured a clear bright golden with a quickly-receding cap of white head. Aroma was very heavy on the coriander with some nutmeg and orange peel behind.. very well-spiced.. odd vegetal sweetness emerges when you dig past the spicage. Flavor was very spicy, adding white pepper to the aforementioned spices.. sweet wheaty notes in the background. Not too good a balance between the sweet and spicy aspects and a bit watery on the palate. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Jun 25, 2007 Thanks BBB63. The beer pours to a thin mead-like plastic light-yellow/clear body with a thin white head. The aroma is butterscotch laden with some coriander too. The flavor is heavily spiced with coriander and sweet pale malts and light butterscotch. Average palate. The butterscotch distracts me significantly. tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Jun 14, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Pale yellow with some white head, but that damn thing way clear! There is an overwhelming perfume aroma. Pretty much the samething in the flavor. It tasted like flower pedals. A pretty heffty mouthfeel. Not all that good. MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Jun 3, 2007 On tap at Mishawaka. Served in a pint glass. Pours a golden/orange with a minimal white head. Aromas of lemon, wheat and coriander. Flavor is light citrus with a good dose of coriander and spice. Mouthfeel is light and watery with weak carbonation. A light and refreshing summer brew.
BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Jun 2, 2007 Bottle and served in my Hoegaarden tumbler: Clean golden hue with a fizzy fading head and minimal spotted lace. The aroma has notes of cardamom, coriander, anise, orange zest, lime leaves, biscuity malt, American wheat and yeasts esters. The taste is moderately spiced with a nice amount of acidity and tart fruits. Just a hint of diacetyl but nothing to stand in the way. A wheat and pale malt driven base adds support to the spices. The mouth feel is refreshing enough for a summer brew and the acidic nature cleans the palate nicely, could be a touch more carbonated however. A very workman like beer, not quite session due to the ABV but enjoyable.
