dark black w/ a nice tan head hints of hops, chocolate, malts, raisens, and alcohol in the scent. The palate was creamy and smooth.. the flavor was good covered a hint of alcohol w/ a touch of bitter chocolate w/ hopps and roasted malts. This was a very good beer. (from a 2 day old growler) Thanks to MIke.

From a BBB63 growler. Not quite dark brown w/ reddish hue. Creamy tan ring. Chocolate, cask wood, sweet raisins, some hops, and tar. Licorice, chocolate, sweet syrup, and vinous in the taste. Good!

Bottle says 9.2%. I definitely question that, it tastes like it is 6% tops. Pours dark brown, thin off white head and one ring of lace around the top of the glass. Prune, & fudge on the nose. Thin mouth-feel a rather bland/ thin RIS. Hints of coffee and chocolate.

Tap. Dark molasses, coffee and alcohol aroma. Dark brown-black color with small head. Initially a slightly sweet prune flavor followed by mocha/coffee, hops and finally a tingling alcohol burn to finish. Smooth and well blended - just not be strong enough for some. I liked the fact that it didn’t have as strong of an alcohol flavor as others in the style I’ve tried.

Guess where this came from. Black body, minimal head. Dark chocolate aroma with plum sweetness and piney hops. Rich chocolate flavor with green raisin notes and resinous sprucey hops. An enjoyable impy stout!

On tap: Opaque with fading tan head and good lace, some oily tears. The aroma has notes of caramelized and burnt malts, toffee and molasses, light pine and grapefruit, hazelnut, coffee and minor phenols. The taste starts quite bittersweet with lots of mocha and coffee overtones. Lightly fruity and nutty undertone. A twangy molasses bite shocks the palate towards the smoky and lingering bitter finish. The feel is thin but oily and very smooth, the alcohol is mostly hidden. This could use more body but is still very quaffable. It is their Founders Stout big brother. One of best offerings from this brewery.
