Commercial Description:
Seven Mules is our version of a summer Barleywine, with a high alcohol content and a light color and body. Seven Mules is named after the offensive linemen on Notre Dame’s 1924 football team that featured the Four Horsemen. Like its namesake, Seven Mules will kick your ass if you don’t treat it with respect.

Very fluffy white maybe to big head. This is no barley wine. Very suprised to read the alchol level. It is well hidden. A soft mothfeel.

I have learned nothing about beer! I plucked this from my cellar (Thanks Cornfield) at random and never even looked at the name of the beer or brewer. I paired it with a very spicy meal. I essentially enjoyed it as a very full-bodied and moderately hopped APA/IPA. Big caramel malt bottom/moderately intense citrus and floral hopping highlights/substantial but extraordinarily well-hidden ABV...etc.etc. Whatever this is (or was intended to be), I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The flavor is fruity and grains leaving a dry mouthfeel. The aroma is of honey.

Bottle. Poured clear dark brown color with medium off-white head that mostly lasting with fair lacing. Aroma was sweet malt and tart fruit. Flavor was a moderate balanced with a moderate bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Medium body with a sticky texture. Good brew.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with jimbowood (thanks!). Poured a deeper and cloudy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, citrus, floral and a little buttery. Tastes of caramel, citrus, some cherries, and toffee. Very light trace of alcohol in the finish. I’m on the fence with this one. Some times I found myself really enjoying it, while other times it really wasn’t doing anything for me. Strange...

Light copper pour. Off-white foamy, lasting head. Smells of astringent and sweet malt. Somewhat bitter, a little heat, and a sour/bitter finish. The store that sold me this 12 oz. bottle told me it was a big IPA, far from the truth. Not much hop presence. I would like to try this fresh on draft.

Bottle. Sweet orange/apple and malt aroma with alcohol apparent. Amber color with small but long lasting head. Sweet malt hits the tongue intially followed by a tart/bitter toffee finish. Mild hops aftertaste. Not bad - interesting blend of sweet and tart.
