DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 26, 2006 Bottle. Clear golden body with under a small foamy white head. Bready, spicy aroma - dough, pepper, cardomom. The spiciness is the most dominant aspect making for an inviting beer. Spicy, chalky flavor - cracker, toasted caramel malt, spice with a lingering sweet finish. Still oddly dry after a while though. A decent enough beer. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Sep 26, 2006 Thanks Mike for this bomber. Pours to a glassy golden body. Thin to non-existent white head. The aroma is syrupy and has lots of floral hops, seems smokey, tart and yeasty. The flavor starts off as lots of bananas and yeast, morphs into a toasty malt, and finishes off woody and sweet. The palate is sweet and moderately bodied. Sort of an abbey double meets saison. Strange. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 26, 2006 Clear gold scotch-like body. Thin fizzy head. Aroma has sweet aromatic esters, some edgy sweet similarities to other beers too... like malty pineapple. Lightly dried sweet flowery malt flavor, orange blossom / honey. Okay beer. BBB63 (4198), La Porte, Indiana, USA Sep 8, 2006 Golden hue with a small fizzy head and some lace. The aroma has notes of grassy and floral hops, hickory, biscuity malts, oak, and barnyard yeast esters. Starts with a nice fruity twang on the palate followed by bready pale malt and that hickory bite. Very woody finish and a bit astringent. Not bad but hardly as good as hoped. (Neither a Saison or Biere de Garde, yep Belgian Ale works) Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 7, 2006 Draft sample at IBGF 06. Orange golden color with a moderate white fizzy head that diminished quickly with fair lacing. Moderate banana wheat citrus aroma. Light to medium body with soft carbonation. Medium sweet citrus flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.
