Honey aroma, along with pale caramel malts and some maibock tendencies. Crisp, sweet and a high ABV that shows itself early in the tasting. Sweet fruity esters. Imperial pils like finish. We’re all over the place with this one, but it’s decent. 5000 (2634), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 27, 2005 Bottle: Dirty golden, hazy, small white sudsy head, spotty lacing, soft carbonation. Soft hop nose, slight oat. Resiny on the tongue, very soft hop flavor, somewhat malty, with a hint of citrus. Moderate body and mouthfeel. Clean finish, slightly malty on the tongue with hop resin clinging to the back of my throat. The 8.5% ABV is well hidden, but otherwise the beer seems soft on the nose and somewhat light on the tongue. Clean, just not terribley interesting. Thanks Mike for the freebie!

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 17, 2005 Bottle: Rich deep amber hue with a small fizzy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of fresh pine leaves, pineapple and orange zest, bready and biscuity malts, and hints of caramel, pepper, and clove. The taste starts malty sweet with some subdued bitters and citrus. Moderate spices and yeast notes as well. The feel is a bit underwhelming, not much kick to speak of and almost wish the 8.5%ABV would be more dominate. Not really sure what to make of this beer, smells very nice but the taste and feel does match up. Seems not to mesh and maybe needs some more time to get it together.
