Commercial Description:
Brewed using four malts and only one hop variety (Centennial) Transit of Venus Sunrise Ale is brewed in the style of an India Pale Ale. It contains only malted barley, hops, water and yeast (It does not contain any wheat). Sunrise Ale has a color that emulates the color of a rising sun. It was created to comemorate the rare occurence of the Transit of Venus that will occur on June 8, 2004. It will be visible in Mishawaka, IN at sunrise and will be visible for 74 minutes. Hence the name "Transit of Venus Sunrise Ale."

Tap. Orange-amber color. Floral and citric hop aroma. Bitter sour taste that lingers. Not that great.

Bottle: Clear golden hue with fizzy fading head and little lace. The aroma has notes of toasted malts, piney and floral hops, papery and earthy yeast esters, and a touch of pepper. The taste offers a moderate piney bitterness with a sour citrus around the edges. A bready and chalky aftertaste. The feel is lively. Sadly, this beer has a homebrew kit quality about it and is missing complexity and balance.

On tap at the brewery. This was really a toasty malt delight, with just a hint of woodiness, pine, earthy. The body was nice; far heftier than the other beers I had there that day. If this was on regular rotation I would drink it. Nice golden reddish amber.
