Commercial Description:
Brewed using four malts and only one hop variety (Centennial) Transit of Venus Sunrise Ale is brewed in the style of an India Pale Ale. It contains only malted barley, hops, water and yeast (It does not contain any wheat). Sunrise Ale has a color that emulates the color of a rising sun. It was created to comemorate the rare occurence of the Transit of Venus that will occur on June 8, 2004. It will be visible in Mishawaka, IN at sunrise and will be visible for 74 minutes. Hence the name "Transit of Venus Sunrise Ale."

Pours a dark orange color, with a small white head. Aroma is piney and citrus hops. Flavor is piney hops, apples, and bitter. Palate is nicely appeased. Thanks to BBB63 For this tasty brew!

Draft. Another pale ale. Could tell it was all one hop, somehow. Orangey hop taste matches its orangey color, Sweet light caramel malts. Toward the end, a big pineyness comes along, too.

On tap at the brewery. This was really a toasty malt delight, with just a hint of woodiness, pine, earthy. The body was nice; far heftier than the other beers I had there that day. If this was on regular rotation I would drink it. Nice golden reddish amber.

This one packs a nice punch! Good flavour, big alcohol content, it doesn’t really feel like their other IPA, it does have some very nice body. Very nicely hopped.

Nice deep gold color with Mishawaka’s creamiest off-white head. Aroma is haystacks, neglected grass fields, cedar and caramel. Much creamier than their other renditions. Smooth, and a reserved hop profile. How many IPAs neglect the hops and favor the malts? Other elements include basement paneling, moth balls and spring cleaning. Decent, but an IPA? I’m not so sure.

Draft sampler at MBC. Dark amber color with a moderate white head that diminished slowly. Moderate hoppy aroma. Medium body with dry texture. Light hoppy flavor with a small bitter finish.

Orange/amber pour with a light off-white head. Centennial hops provided most of the aroma, with a little caramelly sweetness behind it. Flavor followed the aroma very well, but the single hop variety kept this from being more complex and interesting. Finish carried through the caramel and piney hops, and was a bit sticky.

All Centennial hops makes for a nice hop aroma. Copper orange. Medium head with some lacing. Kind of grainy and grassy. Ample bitterness. Medium body. Basicly a Two Hearted knock-off.
