SDbruboy (1809), San Diego, California, USA May 4, 2008 On draft at SD BrewCo during CDC week. Arrives a clear golden amber color with a small white head. Aroma is mostly toasty malts with a bit of sharp floral hoppiness. Flavors are primarily astringent hops, floral and herbal with hints of citrus, more of the toasty malt character. Medium body and crisp carbonation. To be fair, I have to say that I had this IPA immediately after the ever so flavorful and delicious Symposium Surf’s Up IPA from Green Flash, so this more subtle and restrained ale probably didn’t do as well by my palate as if I’d sampled it alone.
WeeHeavySD (1539), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jun 23, 2008 Cask @ The Linkery. Poured orange with a creamy tan head. Nose was nice and mellow taste was great, very smooth with citrus. Nice brew overall. trokini (813), San Diego, California, USA May 28, 2008 Tap @ O’Brien’s. Pours clear orange-gold with a frothy white head and medium lacing. Fresh, clean hop aroma. Mostly grapefruit and orange with an earthy resin. Sticky hops in the taste mixed with a light biscuit finish. Strong hop tastes without being a wannabe IIPA. One of the best. doubleo (652), San Diego, California, USA May 18, 2008 On-tap at Stone 5/13/08. Pours a clearish orange yellow color with a fluffy white head, lots of lace. Angeloregon (1516), Portland, Oregon, USA May 8, 2008 Sample provided by brewer at Mission Street in La Jolla, San Diego, CA--Light golden-orange WC/SD-style IPA body. Floral hoppy nectar brew. big, bouncy creamy head. Boisterous, bitter, and sweet flavor profile. boozy on back of tongue. Quite easily palatable. Scrumdiddiliumptious! Vac (2175), San Diego, California, USA May 8, 2008 On tap at O’brien’s. This is the second time I’ve tried this beer. The first time was at Miami Grille, where Mission Brewery is located and it was just after they had started brewing. I wasn’t all that impressed the first time, however, the second time was a charm. This beer pours with an amber-orange body topped by a medium thick, slightly off-white head with some lacing. It’s hoppy with nice grapefruit and pine notes, as well as, an underlying malt sweetness. The aroma has a fruity, peachy note. Medium bodied, smooth and a touch dry.
