FatTony (106), Augusta, Georgia, USA May 22, 2008 1 quart bottle- pours out a dark golden brown with a fat tan head that left good lacing for the entire glass. Aroma was sharp with sweet caramel. Taste was mild coffee and caramel with a pleasant sweet bite, slightly thin on the palate. NOTE: I avoided this brew for some time due to the "gimmicky" bottle, I was wrong. This beer can hold it’s own with far more expensive brews. Give the bottle to the kids.
KingofCastle (185), London, Ontario, Canada Aug 13, 2008 Porters aren’t my thing but this was nice in that the coffee flavour was toned down for more sweet flavours. Addin the lighter beer definitely helps the porter go down smoother. Give me a Beamish any day over this. LordBeamish (135), Boozetown, Ontario, Canada Aug 4, 2008 My wife picked up a large jug of this while on a business trip to St. Louis....while black and tans are not my usual choice, I found that I really enjoyed this one.......the beer poured a dark brown, similar to a newcastle brown ale.....this beer tasted surpisingly light and satisfying....the sweet chocolate/caramel notes accompanied the roasted malts beautifully....not one I could drink a lot of, but a nice beer to have for a change. Zinister (855), Houston, Texas, USA Aug 3, 2008 Dark brown with small head. Nose and flavor of roasty malts, molasses, and chocolate. Watery for a porter. fakepurseninja (469), Sammamish, Washington, USA Aug 3, 2008 Smells like a wet dog - Light, effervescent body, sweet toasted malt with some honey, butterscotch and toffee - - - kind of grainy and chewy. Light banana notes as well. Thin but with a moderate cara-pils, sarsaparilla mouthfeel. Better than expected and quite a value for the price. BarryBadranath (3), , California, USA does not count Aug 1, 2008 The best black and tan on the market , smooth rich body , honey taste , aromatic robust aroma, a good beer , limited availability
