Color is a very dark copper color. Slight malt aroma. Metallic flavor with a roasted malt aftertaste. Nothing really exciting to write home about this brew. johntreeter (122), Greenwood, Indiana, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 5, 2008 1qt. bottle. Pours a brownish dark amber color with a medium off white head that left average lacing. Fair of aroma malt and carmal with a old cloth scent to it. Pleasent taste with the malt and caramal except for that old cloth note and a tad sweet. A little light on the palate, watery on the texture, and a bit too much carbonation. An OK beer to sit by the river catching catfish. Not bad tasting, just a little thin and too much carbonation for my taste. Actually pretty easy drinking for cutting the grass on a hot day, problem is that isn’t exactly what I am looking for in a black and tan. Then again, what did I except buying "two beers" mixed in one bottle? MadIndian (997), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

I’m not sure a porter would be the choice of style to call this. Dark pour with small head, some malts but thin flavor. An average drinker, I would have it again. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | May 30, 2008 I have seen this stuff around for ages and finally my curiosity got the best of me. It was the whole "Continental Pilsner" line because what the hell does that actually mean. To me it means reject BMC stuff but that is just me. And shouldn’t a Black and Tan be made from an ALE not a pilsner? To be English like the label says. Pours a little darker than an amber beer with a small white head. BMC aroma and taste. I suppose whatever the porter was all it contributed was color. How a NY brewery can label something as "Mississippi" with an alligator on it shows nothing but marketing out of control. To list this as a porter is a crime. lithy (1725), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 29, 2008 Pours a light reddish color not a porter like color of Yuengling’s B&T. Big puffy light tan head. The smell is more pale malts than dark but ends up being more like a sweet brown in taste. Very light on the tonge and very bland. Not anything like an actual B&T with an unpleasant bitter finish. Cool novelty jug, but that is about all this was good for. Underhook (162), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 25, 2008 Pretty average beer, the taste is good but there’s a little bit too much carbonation and it comes offas being fizzy and forced. Again, I did enjoy the flavor, but it wasn’t very deep or complex when compared to similar beers. I’ll drink it again if offered but won’t go out of my way to obtain a bottle.
