Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

Color with a darker amber with black tinge throughout. A slight hint of porter in the nose and taste, but overall flanked by a tasteless and over-carbonated american standard style.

Ceramic bottle. Clear amber colour with a weak head. Aroma of malt and citrus. Flavour of malt, caramel, and it ends up very thin and dull.

Ceramic jug. Pours amber with an off white head. Light and malty aroma. Medium body. As it says on the jug, it tastes like a mix between a very light and thin porter and an average lager. Finishes with a bit of a metallic edge. It’s drinkable for one glass, but I couldn’t finish the whole jug.

1L bottle. Pours dark amber, nice tan head, streaming boobles. Aroma is thin of fruit and bread. Taste is mild of nuts, cherry, slight yeast character, light hop, no finish. Alcohol seems a little loud. Slightly astringent, but refreshing. Not a lot here, but not a lot of flaws either. I can see my uncle’s calling this "like German beer", meaning they can drink it, but would prefer their Natty lite thank you. I could do this at a family cookout. The bottle is cool.

[Courtesy of fonefan, tasting @ Ølbaren] Dark Amber with medium head. Sweet aroma with caramel and fruity notes. Same goes for the somewhat sweet flavor.

Bottle. [Courtesy of fonefan] Large beige creamy head that mostly diminished. Fair display of lacework. Clear flat looking body with a pale mahogany color. Aroma of chocolate, bread, fruit and somewhat oxidized feel. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet with a hint of bitterness. Light sweet malty and light alcoholic finish.
