Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

Decent at best. Coffee is the main taste in it, and it sort of clouds every thing else. I guess technically a black & tan does come out to kind of a porter, but this is pretty sweet tasting. Worth the $3 for the cool a$$ bottle however.

946ml jug.
Pours a deep amber brown with an average sized smooth tan head that leaves some nice shelved lacing. Aroma is nutty with some nice toffee and roasted malt notes. Flavours of roasted malts, some chocolate, caramel and a slightly sour hop character. Texture is a tiny bit on the watery end of things, but I can attribute that to the "Tan" end of things.

This was my first dark beer and I loved it. That was a long time ago, so I will have to try it again.

I love the 32oz. moonshine jug this beer came in...awesome. I drank right from the bottle, so I didn’t really get a good look at the head. Aroma and flavor very malty, tasted of caramel and chocolate. On the heavier side for a black and tan. Overall I really enjoyed this beer.

I remember this one...I believe it was the first dark beer I ever had. I remember that I did not care for it....so being the first, this rating may be biast. Will need to try again. I still have the jug though...

Red to dark brown in color with an ok head. Malty aromas and flavors but not very balanced. Taste is weak for my taste and for the style. Leave the mixing to the bartenders.

Pours a medium dark ale colour, lots of head, but the bubbles were a bit big and it lacked staying power. Nose had an odd sourness to it. Taste was creamy (hinted of a Guinness) but not much else. Not offensive but not interesting either.

This is a mediocre beer than is not very memorable, but the flavor is decent and the price is palatable.
