Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a pint glass The color is a dark amber, an almost red hue with a foamy white head. The smell is not too strong. Slight hints of maple and some malts. The taste is a little maple with hints of hops anda touch of malts. This beer goes down smooth and has a nice porter feel to this beer but alot of the flavor is a bit muted.

1 Quart. Pours transparent brown. Aroma is soft malt. Taste is the same. For such a cool bottle i was expecting a better beer. I was treated to something just mediocre though.

A dark mahogany brew with a short tan head. aroma more on the moderate side than stout, but with a coffee/caramel note that suggests where this flavor could have gone.

This was quite a disappointment as many premade black and tans are. Poured dark amber with a whitefish off color head. Was both bitter and somewhat sweet and was actually quite smooth and refreshing. Overall above average.

Dark copper/ dark amber color with red highlights and an off white head. Strong pilsner aroma, sweet and fruity. Taste is very pilsner-like upfront, light sweet malty. Then there are some roasted notes as it becomes a bit creamy with hints of dark fruit and chocolate. The body of this beer is pretty light yet there is a creamy smoothness to it. My first of the black and tan style, and I can only say that this is interesting. Reminds me of Alaskan Amber, an alt beer. Not a bad beer, not a great beer either, interesting.
