Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

Beer with nondescript aroma, small head with virtually no lacing, that diminished to nothing quickly. Short duration with a sour finish. Body is medium with soft carbonation and a near metallic finish. Only real redeeming quality is the cheap price. Bests Miller and Budweiser for taste per price segment, but nothing great. Was curious, now I have satisfied my curiosity but not my taste buds.

Jug bottle from TJs. Medium brown color with a fizzy head. Faint sweet aroma and a rather bland taste. I’ve had better.

amber/brown more carbonated and lighter than I remember (it had been a while) and not as rich or good as I remember

Poured a dark Amber color. Lots of carbination and little body. Sweet and malty in flavor with little to no hops. Not very impressed.

Poured a dark amber/brown color. This beer was a little too carbinated at first, but as the carbination wore down it was much better. For the packaging and price, I could get a bit more flavorful product, although it was very smooth.

Amber colored with a generous head. Comes across really malty, not a lot of hops in the nose or flavor. I used to drink this alot years ago, but generally not all that excited about it now that I’ve had so many more interesting beers. Still, pretty drinkable and I wouldn’t turn one down. I wouldn’t dare call this a porter though. What’s up with that?

Jug. Poured a red hued bbrown with a medium off-white head, some lacing. Aroma is slightly floral, a bit stale malt, very pale lagerish in character. It does remind one of a black and tan, some raost characteristics and a slightly floral grassy note with a touch of sweetness. Light and tingly mouthfeel.

This beverage does not taste bad, that is not the thing. In fact, I even like the taste. It’s main problem is that is way too thin and taste way to little. It’s burnt malt and fresh hoppy notes, a combination only too rarely enjoyed in my case. But it feels like water in your mouth and for a beer with the word "mud" in the name that simply cannot be ment to be the case. Good but not great. Well, the bottle actually looks great though.
